TOWN OF CHATHAM TO HONOR DR. J. C. DUFFY

Dr. J. Charles Duffy will be made a Freeman of the Town at a ceremony to be held at a later date.

Dr. Duffy has served the community for 45 years as a general practitioner. He is presently semi-retired.

He enlisted in the Canadian Army Corps in 1939 and (attached to the famous North Shore Regiment) he served in Canada, England and Scotland. In 1943 he volunteered for the Italian campaign and served with distinction in Sicily, Italy, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. Upon being discharged with the rank of Major in 1946, Dr. Duffy returned to his hometown to practice medicine.

Besides building an outstanding medical career that began in 1939 upon his graduation from Dalhousie University, Dr. Duffy has found time to indulge in his hobbies of fishing, hunting and boating. He is also known as an exemplary family man. Married to the former Mary English of Nelson-Miramichi, he is the father of four daughters and one son. Dr. and Mrs. Duffy have eight grandchildren.

The announcement that Dr. Duffy is to be honoured will be received with pleasure by his many friends in the Miramichi area and beyond.
